The ICC Training Academy aims to:

The purpose of the academy is to provide valuable hands-on experience to trainees inclusive of residents, fellows, nurses, surgical and physician assistants, as well as cardiac surgeons that are interested in becoming even more proficient in the following training modules:


Station 1 (TA3):
Flow Meter Utilization: Supported by Medistim
Trainers: TBA
  • Training on using a flow meter.
  • Reading and interpreting flow measurements.
  • Scanning aorta, intramyocardial vessels, and anastomosis.
Station 2 (TA4):
Surgical Arrhythmia and Left Atrial Appendage Management: Supported by Atricure
Trainers: TBA
  • Understand the lesions of the Cox Maze Procedure
  • Case cadencing when adding AFib ablation to your CABG or valve procedure
  • Best practices for mechanical and electrical isolation of the Left Atrial Appendage
Station 3 (TA7):
Enclose II -Proximal Anastomosis Assist Device: Supported by Peters Surgical

Hands on demonstration of MICS technology for:
  • Demonstration of creating a bloodless field during proximal anastomosis (on or off pump)
  • Hands-on demonstration on the utilization of the Enclose II device to create hemostasis and completing a quality proximal anastomosis
Station 4 (TA8):
Save a sternum! MICS in CABG surgery: Supported by Medtronic

Hands on demonstration of MICS technology for:
  • IMA harvesting
  • Positioning the beating heart
  • Stabilization of the coronary artery
Station 5: (TA10)
Hands-On Vasoview Hemopro 2 Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting System: Supported by Getinge
  • Hands on demonstration of the market leading Vasoview Hemopro 2 device
Station 6 (TA13):
Hands-On Bleeding Management Education from Ethicon

  • This hands-on demonstration will allow you to experience Ethicon’s adjunctive hemostasis on animal tissue perfused with heparinized porcine/bovine blood
  • Quickly validate the effectiveness of each product and explore appropriate use in different bleeding situations

Hands-On Saphena Venapax® Unitary EVH Platform: Supported by Saphena

  • This hands-on demonstration will allow the user to experience our proprietary unitary EVH platform in a synthetic lifelike model.
  • Effectively evaluate the intuitive nature of the Venapax device and its applications for endoscopically harvesting conduit for CABG
